Where Are You

Have you ever been so involved in your mind
And been, so deep in a thought
Pondered reality yet fantasy
And been where you're not

Is this true consciousness
Or just does it seem
The place that you're in
Could this be a dream

Take a look around
What is it you face
Not sure, does it seem unfamiliar
Is this your head space

Could you be in two places
You're there and this spot
Did you remember to forget
Are you here or you're not

Are you somewhere adjacent
And is it critical to know
Is down really down
So which way should you go

Wherever you are
Is it your choice you be there
When you're not where you're not
Is there reason to care

Maybe you live on another planet
A mirror-image sublime
You've managed to warp
And you've mastered space/time

How can it be, it's so hard to see
Is it so easy to traverse
To be transposed, really goes
With a parallel universe

A Matter Of Perception

As the seasons change it's
Mother Nature's calling
And when the trees respond
Their leaves commence falling

When the grass stops growing
And gardens are bare
Squirrels nowhere to be seen
But you know that they're there

The same window peered through
The flora robust and strong
Door opened to night time
With crickets singing their song

And on this side of the window
My mind starts to race
And ponders perception
Is this just, a time and a space

For if I close the blinds
The plants and trees could be growing
Are there vegetables in the garden
And from this side, no one is knowing

Squirrels could be gathering
Tonight crickets are they singing
Do you think it's insane
Something to do with upbringing

So which side of the glass
Does anyone know
Give me a hand with the blinds
Show me where to go

Is this a point of view
Or from one's mind's file folder
Is it true reality or just
In the eye of the beholder

Makes one go very deep
Is this a deception
Which side of the glass

A matter of perception
The Crisis Which Lies Ahead

Give your head a shake, for what's at stake
Is our planet and it's eco-system
When they're gone they're gone, do you know what's going on
So many problems to even list 'em

The major problems at hand and we all must take a stand
It's global warming and ocean acidifcation
Not enough people are learning, about fossil-fuel burning
The importance of, remedial world legislation

Some may claim it's a spoof, but there's overwhelming proof
A crisis caused by, CO2 emmissions and green-house-effect gases
For whatever it's worth, there are so many places on earth
Acidification and climate change, are affecting the masses

Climate changes causing drought and of this there's no doubt
Unproductive farmlands becoming an outpost
There's no sense pointing fingers, for the problem it lingers
The ones who pollute the least, suffer the most

Also, there is no denying, many of the world's coral reefs are a dying
Do some research and check out the stats
A lot of the flora and fauna that rely, have started to die
We've changed the nature, of what Nature formats

Does anyone think, what happens, when the icecaps they shrink
To the low-lying island nations and land
With fish-stocks depleting and a dead horse, continually beating
Where there is no supply and there's only demand

Even in America people don't know, local farmers, really can't grow
Their aquifers or wells, have no water
And at the end of the day, there is no other way
Than to abandon an ancestrial farm, with no money, no produce and no fodder

There are many coastal States, the fish catching abates
The small fishermen are pondering their plight with annoyment
With their investments out-on-a-limb and a future so dim
A life's career out-to-sea, facing unemployment

Something has to be done and done now and the only way how
The ulternative's a whole lot of dread
Polluting countries better start learning, they must drastically reduce, fossil-fuel burning

'Cause for our children's children the legacy we'll leave, is, a crisis which definitely lies ahead
                                                       Christmas Tree

Christmas tree oh Christmas tree, I wish with all my might
All I see on the television, is deceitfulness and fights
Why can't people get along, not only now, but throughout the year
Why does there have to be so much unrest and not to, peacefulness adhere

Why does there have to be so violence and abuse, against one's fellow man
Can't there be the opposite of that, an accord or master plan
Can't the very rich help the very poor, so much poverty in this world
They don't have to give up their wealth, a little heart could be unfurled

When is enough wealth enough, does the greed go on forever
What about the welfare of mankind, could that be a sincere endeavor
Christmas, oh so serene and special, such a magical time of year
Wish there wasn't so much strife, does that ring loud and clear

So it's the night before Christmas and in my bed, blankets in a heap
Tossing and turning so restless, it's so hard to fall to sleep
So many world problems on my young mind and what there lies ahead
Wishing for less greed and conflict and, world-peace instead

You see I'm in my teens and I volunteer and try to give, a helping hand
And I have two sibs, one older one younger, and they don't understand
But the calmness and peacefulness of Christmas morning, it is such a magical thing
Wish there wasn't so much hunger and less strife and wonder, what will the new year bring
