Christmas Tree
Christmas tree oh Christmas tree, I wish with all my might
All I see on the television, is deceitfulness and fights
Why can't people get along, not only now, but throughout the year
Why does there have to be so much unrest and not to, peacefulness adhere
Why does there have to be so violence and abuse, against one's fellow man
Can't there be the opposite of that, an accord or master plan
Can't the very rich help the very poor, so much poverty in this world
They don't have to give up their wealth, a little heart could be unfurled
When is enough wealth enough, does the greed go on forever
What about the welfare of mankind, could that be a sincere endeavor
Christmas, oh so serene and special, such a magical time of year
Wish there wasn't so much strife, does that ring loud and clear
So it's the night before Christmas and in my bed, blankets in a heap
Tossing and turning so restless, it's so hard to fall to sleep
So many world problems on my young mind and what there lies ahead
Wishing for less greed and conflict and, world-peace instead
You see I'm in my teens and I volunteer and try to give, a helping hand
And I have two sibs, one older one younger, and they don't understand
But the calmness and peacefulness of Christmas morning, it is such a magical thing
Wish there wasn't so much hunger and less strife and wonder, what will the new year bring
I wish we could wish all the bad away! These comments seem so infantile but the spirit of the message inspired my words!
