Our
Planet's In Serious Trouble
A molten ball
hurtling through space
Then earth's crust
began to cool
And billions of
years in passing
Migratory water
commenced to pool
This magnificient
orb speeding through space
Transitioning,
since it had begun
Eons dissolving,
flora and fauna evolving
Throughout, it's
yearly trek 'round the sun
Experienced
ice-ages and mass extinctions
And through so many
impacts, my this planet had grown
With gravitation
holding everything together
Traversing an
orbit, in a Goldilocks zone
From this raging
inferno
Emanating from
explosive molten storms
Evolution
commencing from star-matter
Came very simple
life forms
Billions of years
in the making
A wondrous planet
and mankind of today
Now global warming
is a serious threat
And generations to
come, will pay
In the matter of
only a blink of time
Gross neglect and
fossil-fuel burning
Irreversible damage
to earth's eco-systems
These ways, they
better start turning
Drought, storms and
ice-caps shrinking
Oceans reefs are
dying, many habitats lost
All of this in the
name of what?
And mostly, who'll
suffer the cost
Our great grand
children will bear the brunt
CO2 emmisions,
causing so much to be lost
But the really big
problem is methane gas
Emanating from, the
Arctic's perma-frost
Methane is twenty
times more polluting
Gotta' burst that
complacent bubble
For if this is not
addressed real soon
Our planet
definitely is, in very serious trouble
OMG this is powerful stuff and so sad and petrifying at the same time! What can we do as an sole individual or as the people? Thanks for sharing your meaningful words and poetry! Your daughter of a few! Xoxxoxoxo
ReplyDeleteEvery writer has a season and this is most definitely Bob Threader’s season as a prolific writer. It is an effort to choose my favourite of these poems but throwing caution to the wind I will choose “Our Planter’s in Serious Trouble”. Bob has a unique penetrating vision from a soul’s eye.
ReplyDeleteThis expressionist poet has opened our minds to the macrocosim of our earth by devoting his passion to a plea for hope. Please endeavour to chose your favourite out his poetic seeds in his season that will blossom with your mind’s. Enjoy!!
