Marj And Joe

Remember the time when you were young and bold, nothing to worry about, not so much as a care
The innocence of it all was so omnipresent, carrying on on a wing and a prayer
Surely doesn't seem that long ago, but so many years have gone by in the blink of an eyelash
School was finished, then work, then parenthood, then children's children came in a flash

What stands out so vividly in my aged memory bank, for I was maybe in my thirties or so
Is a recollection of an older man and his wife, and how the love for her man did show
He had suffered a stroke many years before, and she had taken on the care-giving role
Marj was somewhat serious and Joe had been, a happy-go-lucky soul

Joe had been reduced to a totally dependent person, but Marj treated him like a king
She shaved his face, combed his hair and wiped his mouth, did all and everything
She'd help him into his rocking chair and as he'd peer out through the clouded window pane
Marj would cook and read him books and oh, so lovingly say Joe's name

She told me how much she misses him and how, when a tear rolls down his face
She has such a hard time remaining strong and often, has to change her space
'Cause Joe understands all she says, but just barely moves his eyes
Marj told me she weeps at nights, but in front of Joe inside, silently she cries

Joe had been a hard-working, diligent man, but very gentle and also very kind
At times a little tough and his hands were rough, but he loved Marj with all his soul and mind
She said Joe was her best friend and she knew, she was his best friend too
Said she missed; with such rough hands, such a gentle touch, never enough for she, that he could do

She missed the man he used to be and as she showed me, many a photograph
A tear rolled down as she talked of him, his sense of humour and how he always made her laugh
She sighed a lot as we went through the pics and she went on about him so sweet and smart
And that when they were young, she had another beau, But Joe was the one who stole her heart

Well on the weekends the grand kids come and around the house they'll play
At times she feels despondent, for they really don't know him and it's just, “hi grampa they'll say”!
Joe had the biggest heart and loved Marj so much and still together, after all these years
I hugged Marj and as I wiped her cheek, I could feel the sadness in her tears

I've listened to love songs, read love stories and those stories on TV
Nothing compares to Marj's love for Joe, for that is love, that was truly meant to be
Joe and Marj have long since passed, but her passion and love, is emblazened in my mind
And I can only dream of love like Marjs' and only wish that I could find

I think of Marj and I think of Joe, being totally disabled, but utterly aware
Of him being shaved, his mouth being wiped, not able to rock, in his rocking chair
And it's hard to even fathom, a reality so profound
Hopefully when it's time, it's time, 'cause like that, I don't want to hang around

Of Times Past

Whatever happened to the values of yesteryear, a time of caring and consideration
For those times are not so far gone, an era of humanity, benevolence and adoration
Yes they seemed to be simpler times, but generally omnipresent, was mindfulness and trust
For the law and your neighbour's property and the respect for one's school teacher, definitely a must

Adolescent games like tag and hide 'n go seek and eavy ivy over
And everyone had a mutt of a dog, named “spot” or “rex” or “rover”
TV's were rare, but no despair, everyone's huddled, listening to the radio
On Saturday if you did your chores and cleaned the floors, you'd go to the movie show

An allowance of twenty-five cents and with that hence, the admission, popcorn and a drink
And on the way to the movie theater, ah the bakery aroma and of pies and pastries we'd think
Sunday morning was a time for prayer and then and there, off to our place of worship to pray
Grandma would be leading the pack and after mass, for ice-cream sundaes she'd pay

The egg lady visited on Saturday morn and she would leave a dozen or two
If there was no money to pay for the eggs today, then paying next week will do
The milkman delivered milk pretty-well daily, in the top of the bottle the cream was separated
In the winter-time we would scoop off the top, enjoying the treat the freezing temperature created

The breadman delivered bread twice per week, the enclosed wagon, meandered the neighbourhood
At times a surprise, but normally bread, doughnuts and pies, the aroma permeated the wagon's wood
There was no way to mask-it the aroma of bread in the basket, now time to feed the breadman's horse
The wagon needed no gas, the nag, hand-fed it some grass and my reward, a free doughnut of course

The iceman who seemed big as an ox, filled the top of the icebox, with a hundred pound block of ice
The meltwater would leak into a tray, we'd empty it every day and he'd deliver every week twice
A summertime treat we kids would chase him down the street, with his icepick he'd chip off a piece
With a big chunk in our hand we thought this was grand, gradually wetting our fronts by slow release

The coalman hunched over toting huge bags and clad in dirty rags, hands and face black as black
If money was short a bag we would sport, to pick up coal along the steam locomotive's track
With very little funds in one's stash and having to pay cash, for with no money, most did without
Things at times they were hard but in the backyard, it was fun, watching the vegetables sprout

No computers, no cell but no one did dwell on the fact, the party-line had one long and two shorts
Nosy neighbours listened in but that was no sin, suppose for them, they'd get their daily reports
No texts to edit and definitely no cards of credit, but everyone seemed to have what it took
And if you didn't have the cash to buy that table or couch, all you could do was look

Prom queens and sock hops for the teens and of course, all these functions chaperoned
Most people lived within their means and few mob scenes, respect and dignity home-grown
Now it's up to you to think it through, about the present times and how long will these times last?
What the heck muse for just a sec', people were more scrupulous and honourable, “in times past”

Where Do You Fit In

Is it one step forward
And two steps back?
Do you remember the path
Or is it hard to keep track?

Is it the week before last
Or the day before tomorrow?
Are those thoughts original
Or did you just borrow?

When you look out your window
Does reality strike?
Do you get the big picture
Or are all things, simply alike?

When you attempt to do something
Do you pull out, all the stops?
Are you subsisting covertly
Is your mandate special ops?

What in hell is the good in touch?
If there's nothing worth feeling
If help is not longed for
What is the purpose of healing?

If there's no motive in conversing
What's the reason for words?
If one's not truly listening
Is the dialogue overheard?

Hmm, is there an argument, only to live
Then what's the rationale behind living?
Is it rapacious to always attain
And to, never be giving?

When one is aggressive
Does aggression beget aggression?
Do you keep everything to yourself
Or have, a brain-storming session?

If we peruse the image in the mirror
Will we know where to begin?
Do you think that some day you'll discover
Just “where you fit in”?

All's Not Lost
(Relationship Woes)

In the beginning you thought you had it all, steady lovin' and independence too
The ability to carry on as you please, but responsibilities you hadn't a clue
Individuals with your own thoughts and ideals, there is nothing that you couldn't weather
Then it became time to take the plunge, differing idiosyncracies now living together

Two completely different microcosms entwined and now existing as one
Without really comprehending the intricacies, a co-habitational relationship's begun
She goes out with the girls and he goes out with the boys, this thing is not too bad
We really seem to be compatible, the best either has ever had

Through thick and thin you're five years in and you've produced two more of your kind
And the baggage that should have been left behind, now co-exists in the back of your mind
Two kids, two cars and a mortgage, all this started with a loving kiss
This is not all that it is cracked-up to be, for the bliss has gone amiss

The things you used to do together, things that you thought were so sublime
Have kind of been put to the wayside, “my significant other” seemingly has no time
And you ask yourself, “was it love” or was it lust and infatuation?
'Cause there's so many days of unhappiness, dissatisfied mindfulness filled with deliberation

Cognizant of those beautiful times, the times when you anticpated each other's touch
And the torrid bouts of making love, rapture and ecstacy, that really is missed so much
What once was a-yearning and two hearts were a-burning, both of them beating as one
You wonder what's changed are thoughts re-arranged, something has to be done

It went from hot to tepid, to cold, there was respect, but really no communication
Something that once seemed so strong, is now a situation
So hard to construe and not knowing what to do, for there is no collaboration
But, we both still care and do we dare, do we go for a separation?

The problem is it takes a more than love, so much more than just the planting of seeds
For understanding, respect and communication is paramount, it is what a relationship needs
Some people were just not meant for each other, but who knew when the relationship started
Unfortunately many find out too late and become, a club-member of the broken-hearted

What you can do is see it through, open your mind and keep, an open heart
With understanding, caring and respect you'll realize, the commencement of a brand-new start
You'll just have to re-kindle the fire and never let that flame abate
And never exhaust for “all is not lost”, you must love and communicate

Health And Happiness

When the opportunity presents itself
In getting together with family or friends
It's not just about the food or the drink
Time's a passing and life, certainly has no dividends

When you're older and money left in the bank
May not be yours to enjoy
So when it is time to spend, just spend
Indulge yourself with that toy

What's most important, is to be happy
And to maintain a happy mood
Eat healthily most of the time
But once in a while, enjoy that not-so-good food

Treat your sicknesses with optimism
Everyone goes through, sicknesses, aging and death
There are no exceptions for that is life
Happiness leads to health, postponing one's last breath

Try not to be worried or terribly afraid
When you are sick or things go wrong
You will get through life's problems
And breeze through adversities, when they come along

If worries can cure your sicknesses, you better worry
And worry, if worries can promote less strife
If happiness can be exchanged by worrying
You better make, worrying part of your life

Look after your body, your health and rely on yourself
And your moods, let you be the one in charge
Make a point of smiling or laughing each day
With happiness remaining at large

Your kids will be fine and they'll do their own thing
Their environment, is how they've learned
Be up-front, love and communicate
And hopefully, there'll be no bridges burned

Treasure your mate, your best friend and companion
And for each other's love you thirst
Make a point of smiling and laughing together
'Cause one of you, has to leave first!

Decidedly Undecided

Sometimes we ponder
About which way to turn
Should we reach for it all
And for it all yearn?

Then some of it is gone
Within the blink of an eye
It may or may not stand to reason
But we always ask why

When we're at the bottom
Should we strive for the top?
Is it a fact or a fable?
Should we consult Aesop?

Can we be a two places
At the same time?
Are there parallel multiverses?
What's the reason and rhyme?

Is it wrong to be wrong
And right to be right?
Are colours meaningful
If one has no sight?

What is an act of endearment
If there's nothing to love?
Why is hell down below
And heaven above?

Is it bad to be bad
And good to be good?
And not do things that we shouldn't
But do things that we should

What's the sense of a beautiful song
If one has no hearing?
Is there any reasoning
For a cluttered mind to be clearing?

So to be decidedly undecided
And unsure to be sure
Is it simply a placebo
Or could be a cure?

In The Pursuit Of Love

Continually tryin', to get through all the lyin'
Especially when seeking an internet date
Definitely it's not the same as it used to be
In one's quest, to find a compatible mate

A sterile way and at the end of the day
Such an impersonal path to walk
People can be whomever they choose
From a canary, a dove to a hawk

Surely so much to ponder, as down that road you wander
Trying to keep a positive attitude
You meet them all, fat, thin, short and tall
Some real nice and a few, just outright rude

A lot have not a pot for pissing or a pit for hissing
And for most, it's just a form of entertainment
A way of getting lost and at little cost
A victim of, cyberspace containment

Most simply get caught up in the game and it's truly a shame
With the majority, not even giving it a chance
They continue to text, with whomever is next?
In this, virtual reality realm romance

A few will offer to pay their share, suppose 'cause they feel it's fair
And most are there, just to dine
One ponders trying to make sense of it all
When the impetus is not love, it's an outing for food and wine

It's so difficult texting on line and trying to find
You're not even known and yet they will conclude
A concept they hatch and yes, we're not a match
And so many sentences, getting misconstrued

Trying to de-cypher the truth from beneath and lies through the teeth
You push in an attempt to meet
Be aware and also we know it's not fair
But be prepared, for overt deceit

So what happened to the atmosphere of yesteryear?
Of finding that special person, that all us dream of
And do you think, it only happens on the movie screen
In the quest to find true love?

Energy And Spirits

Everything is comprised of energy, from one's body or a rock to a backyard tree
Energy vibrates at varying frequencies, which determines its' matter's tangibility
Meaning the rate of speed at which it vibrates, influences whether it's visible or not
Everything is matter, water, air and so on, kind of hard to grasp that thought

The principles of physics substantiates, that energy is made up of atoms, electrons and molecules
And all objects, tangible or intangible, audible or inaudible, must adhere to those scientific rules
Energy is the essence of all existence, although it appears in so many differing formations
It separates and also links the spirit and physical world, depending on, the energy's cycle's duration

The energy we perceive as solid matter including ourselves, is vibrating at a very, very slow rate
It is the reason why we are physically able to perceive it as matter, a fact we cannot negate
And the energy of matter we cannot see such as air vibrates so fast, it has no tangibility
That being said, a bodily spirit, one can't touch, hear, taste, smell, or generally even see

Meaning that energy of the spirit plane, generally has no appearance or presence at all
Unless a spirit chooses to represent itself in a tangible form, for only the spirit has the wherewithal
Energy of the physical body is not able to exist in the spirit plane it can't vibrate at a high enough rate
So for a spirit to make it's presence known, it must slow its' vibration down, in order to communicate

But if One has the ability as a Medium does, he or she can increase their rate of vibration
And consequently both can meet somewhere in the middle, to conduct communication
The earth plane and the spirit plane are connected and energy, is the common force
The Theory of Relativity quantifies that everything vibrates, at different rates of course

Low frequencies producing tangibles and higher ones, the one's you can't feel, see or touch
When one gets into the field of quantum physics, this'll boggle the mind so much
In this study it is said, matter can be in two places at the same time and in our minds this is etched
So when we think of Energy and Spirits this realm, is not really too far-fetched

Most religions tell you of the Soul's existence and of course, the Soul we cannot see
It is there upon birth and leaves upon death, for certain it is energy
In the Spirit world there are no boundaries of space or time, the Spirit is always evolving
The ways to connect with divine energy is meditation, yoga and prayer, a way of kind of absolving

In Better Times

In this age of microcosmic enhancement and technological advancement
Aren't these supposed to be, "the better times"?
Doesn't knowledge beget comprehension and wisdom?
So why all the unrest and the, against-humanity crimes?

"In better times" shouldn't we be concerned about our habitats?
With more restoration and less obliteration
Why do we continually pollute our waterways?
A plague which haunts, almost every nation

Couldn't there be more construction and less destruction?
In these “so called better times"
Why are our oceans being acidified and plasticized?
As technological advancement climbs

Does it not make you think if we're in the pink and we're told
These times are better than before?
Well you better take a break and give your head a shake
Do some research, and see who's really keeping score!

Conversely, there is no doubt if the One's with clout
Cared about the Planet and Humanity, instead of their coffers
Unfortunately it seems, that never it will be
Because for Them, there are no better-offers

Seems today that every time we turn around
For sure, it's not just outside our peripheral view
So many family break-ups and mental shake-ups
Are these "better times,” the reason for us being blue?

What is meant by saying, “it is the sign of the times”?
Isn't this the same human race it used to be?
Have people changed and have they become so different?
They're unable to aquiesce, atone or simply just agree?

Be aware of the reviling and all the crap that's piling
Let's contemplate for a moment, at who is setting the pace?
An abundance of belligerent reporting and creative retorting
And the One's who are supposed to be respected, conversely being so base

Hmm, so with this increasing technology, does that mean “better times”?
Is it personally just trying to make it through?
And in the pursuit of whose gold and through whose eyes to behold?
Do some research for the answer, completely remains with you

Wishful Thinking

You don't know what this is
So through your mind you wander
This feeling of enchantment
Certainly something you must ponder

If you don't it may be gone
Before it ever started
And neither one of you to be
Remotely broken-hearted

You truly don't know each other
But there's something deep inside
Telling you to take that step
And not let this sense slide

So should you give it a chance?
You know you're miles apart
But with honesty and respect
Maybe, you can find a start

Are you the type who believes in love?
And misses it so, so very much
Who sees the passion in your lover's eyes
Absconds that tender touch

Wearing one's heart upon one's sleeve
Following vistas, without even blinking
Could this be what you've been searching for?
Or is it simply, wishful thinking

Responsibilities

All your life you've been responsible
Education, family, work and such
Sometime's your life is not your own
At times, you resent that oh so much

Education pursued with much fervour
And you did quite well
Of course, that was the thing to do
As far as you could tell

Hmm, with work you are quite happy
With your boss and your position is close to being right
You put a lot into your job
Sometime's, you come home late at night

Don't know if you are appreciated
And you do come home a little tired
And you really try to do your best
At times, feel quite bogged down and mired

Your life's been pretty busy
Raising family and with your friends
And you'd like a little time to yourself
For you, that is where it ends

It's such a beautiful day today
And responsibilities you will shirk
'Cause you're going to phone in and tell your boss
Today, it's too beautiful to work

'Tis The Season Ta Make 'Em Tic'

Ah yes, late Spring
Then turns to Summer
Everything's a-flowerin'
For many, 'tis a-bummer

So much pollen in the air
The plants are releasin'
The pharmaceutical companies
Prefer it increasin'

People's noses a-runnin'
Their eyes are a-waterin'
Headaches and sneezin'
Kind a-teeter-totterin'

Now 'tis late Summer
Which turns into Fall
Gone, are the glassy eyes
My allergy withdrawal

Autumn's now recedin'
A-comin' is a-winter
Gonna be here so quick
Like a hundred yard sprinter

Hmm, spose' time's approachin'
Ta' get that chill
Talkin' 'bout the flu bug
Down 'n out 'n really ill

The onset of the “bug”
Thru' this anecdote
Temerature's a-risin'
A little scratch in the throat

Coughin' 'n a-sneezin'
With the flu bug yer' a-flirtin'
Somach churnin' and diarrhea
Whole body's completely a-hurtin'

We go thru' the earth's cycles
And sometimes we get sick
For 'tis the seasons
Ta' make 'em tic'

The Westerner's World

Let's ponder this thought for a moment, do you think there'd be a crash?
What would happen to the system, if most things were paid by cash?
So many credit cards at one's disposal, whichever one you choose
When you use that piece of plastic, you'll suffer the usury blues

If you want some cash don't worry, an ATM just push the card right in
Of course there's a service charge but, don't forget your PIN
How about some online cash or you can just pick up your phone
Or go to your neighborhood mall and apply for a payday loan

There are places to sell most of one's possessions, nothing left to behold
Is your jewelry still worth the same or less, when they call it “broken gold”?
And why is it in the Western world, a feeling of deservedness exists
Where most people have all they need and still, instant gratification persists

Methane-producing animals on steroids and GMO's, in mostly every crop
Copious fast-foods places, increasing obesity and health issue costs, this soon will have to stop
A time, not that long ago generally men, weighed about eighty kilos or so
And women weighing around sixty, certainly no problem in touching their toe

It is fair to say that back in the day, the money-people weren't there like a swarm
And generally a family had little debt, with only, a mortgage on their house the norm
But that was then and now is now and today, so much criminal activity like never before
And to make ends meet, you need four feet and there's really no one keeping score

Pharmaceutical companies aligned with the doctors, medications prescribed to the hilt
Pubescent and pre-pubescent children over-medicated, is this done with any guilt?
A script of sedatives for sleep, am I in too deep and anti-depressants so you can cope
Your back is aching, well oxy's you're taking, this drug has become “street dope”!

Is your mind a-burnin' knowing there's metal-detectors in the halls of learnin', truly kind of sad
And do people care when the family unit's not there, because of a marriage gone bad?
In chaos, store lootings and many mass-shootings, do you think these incidents will end?
Do you believe it's good, living in the Westerner's “hood” and do you suppose it's wise to pretend?

Within the U.S. Border, where they claim “law and order”, the Federal Reserve's an oligarch
The media's contolled by a Few, if you don't like things just sue and the citizens are kept “in the dark”
It is such a pity, so many a tent-city, for a country that once was so great
And it's really not funny for the “people of money”, take the food from the average man's plate

Don't think this so strange, for things surely will change, the Western economy will take a hit
Trust this and heed, the Chinese, will take the lead and Western Leaders, too remiss to admit
Westerners' a house and two cars and everything five-stars, all good things must come to an end
If the Leaders were wise, there'd be no surprise, so why do they have to pretend ?

The Whole Thing's Pretty Sad

Things were not meant to be this way
Ongoing unrest and so much oppression
The world doesn't have to be Nirvana
Just a little peace and so much less aggression

Our Planet is being contaminated at a phenominal rate
And omnipresent, eco-systems destroyed and so, so much pollution
Scientists proclaim that if changes are not made
And made realitively soon, there really will be no solution

With the ultra-rich and the People in power
Acting under the pretense that they care
All of the atrocities and belligerence
And the lying and dying, almost everywhere

There is no doubt that People with clout could do it
And it's certainly not going to happen overnight
But, these people could definitely initiate changes needed
Creating the in-roads to make things right

The major problem, it is complete and utter greed
And the illegal printing of money with impunity has to cease
With political bankrolling, media contolling and the arms keep on a-rolling
Obviously, there ain't no money in peace

Atrocities, destruction and defeat, maimed families and kids in the street
Countries like, Iraq, Syria, Yemen and so many more
Would we look at it any differently if our cities were turned to rubble?
Our infra-structure, our homes and our lives ruined to the very core

And how would you like to witness the slaughter of our mothers, sons and fathers
Or the rape of a twelve year old daughter and nine year old boy taken off to war
For in many innocent minds this truly is etched and for us, seems so far-fetched
Well take your head out of the sand 'cause there's more

There are many sites you can visit, just google pizza gate or lolitta express
You'll be surprised what shit comes up on your screen
And could it be that tranfused young blood has anti-aging properties?
Do some research and you'll find, that those pristine people were not so upright and clean

Because of insinuations, cover-ups and fake news, it's hard to decipher what's true
And the good is being overwhelmed by the bad
Unfortunately your children's, children will suffer the consequences
Without a doubt, the whole thing is pretty sad
