Where
Do You Fit In
Is it one step forward
And two steps back?
Do you remember the path
Or is it hard to keep track?
Is it the week before last
Or the day before tomorrow?
Are those thoughts original
Or did you just borrow?
When you look out your window
Does reality strike?
Do you get the big picture
Or are all things, simply alike?
When you attempt to do something
Do you pull out, all the stops?
Are you subsisting covertly
Is your mandate special ops?
What in hell is the good in touch?
If there's nothing worth feeling
If help is not longed for
What is the purpose of healing?
If there's no motive in conversing
What's the reason for words?
If one's not truly listening
Is the dialogue overheard?
Hmm, is there an argument, only to live
Then what's the rationale behind living?
Is it rapacious to always attain
And to, never be giving?
When one is aggressive
Does aggression beget aggression?
Do you keep everything to yourself
Or have, a brain-storming session?
If we peruse the image in the mirror
Will we know where to begin?
Do you think that some day you'll discover
Just “where you fit in”?
As we grow older we begin to realize that fitting in is not as important as feeling comfortable beneath our own skin. Nice poem Robert. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteReal questions but not always the right answers. However it gives one pause to ponder. Thank you.
